Meet our Elite Ensembles
Our FBHS Band Family is comprised of many unique and talented ensembles. With musical education opportunities that range from the world beat of percussion to the smooth groove of jazz, the FBHS Band provides a wide variety of genres for student enrichment. Take your pick from these musical journeys or experiment with them all.
When our FBHS Falcons Marching Band takes the field at football games or competition events, you can be sure that a great show is about to happen. The 120+ member band
includes a large percussion section, brass and woodwind instruments along with a dynamic color guard.
The three groups formed from our band classes are led by the Wind Symphony which is comprised of musicians at the height of their performance ability. Performing music at a very advanced level has led this group to receive multiple accolades from festival judges and audiences alike.
Our Jazz Band is led by veteran music educator, Wally Conrath who has brought the group to a higher level with his expertise in all forms of jazz music. This ensemble plays at least two concerts a year and also performs special engagements at fairs and festivals in the area.
Symphonic Band is an advanced group where students play music with a higher level of difficulty. Many students from the symphonic band also play in other ensembles including jazz band. There are opportunities for students to participate in solo ensemble and other competitions through this group.
Bounce with the Pep Band during FBHS Basketball season where this group puts some pep in the step of players & fans alike. Pep Band help raise the roof during home games for the Varsity girls & boys all season long.
Concert Band is where students learn musical theory and improve on their musicianship. This building process helps lay a strong foundation for students to develop the skills needed to advance to other performance groups. Advanced students also find this ensemble a place to try new instruments in order to become more well rounded players.
During the winter months, marching hits the gym floor for the indoor drumline season. A mixture of percussion and precision drill, indoor drumline participates in regional, state and national competitions - their season highlight is hosting the FBI - Flowery Branch Invitational in March on campus at FBHS.
Feel the beat of percussion from across the globe with this dynamic ensemble. The FBHS Percussion group innovates the genre with unique and vibrant performances using new techniques and instruments. New for 2013/14 is the addition of a full set of African drums purchased via a music grant.
Recently invited to play for the Georgia Music Educators Association's annual conference, Sheer Panic is a high energy and crowd pleasing ensemble. A dedicated bunch of fun loving players have brought this unique ensemble to life. , Sheer Panic and Steel Drum II are fantastic opportunities for aspiring drummers of all skill levels.
A hybrid of modern dance and acrobatic twirling, Winter Guard is a showcase of the techniques used by Color Guard to enhance field performances of the marching band. The Winter Guard focuses on the dance, precision twirling and unique program theme of the guard set to music and performed inside on mats in the gym. Season includes travel to competitions.
